Kanske inte riktigt BBS-relaterat, men ändå en ganska bra anekdot från den tid som det var. Alla vi som sysslade med BBSer hade två hatobjekt: Telia och Microsoft. Telia höjde då och då priserna och blev därför måltavlan från mycket arga användare och Sysops. Detta skapade en hätsk stämning som fanns kvar in i Interneteran där Telias hemsida blev hackad två gånger och en person satte upp en personlig, och för den tiden, mycket populär hatsida mot Telia. Telia fick namnet ”Felia”, vilket var en vidarutveckling av ”Feleverket”.
Microsoft då? Tja, de var aggressiva och tog över det mesta. Företag köptes upp och Microsoft försökte skapa sitt eget Internet (”Microsoft network”) och låsa in användarna där. De konkurerade med Netscape och använde alla fula trick i boken för att vinna. Bland oss Amiganördar var Microsoft Windows 3.11 ett skälsord.
Var denna ilska befogad? Idag kan man ju fundera på det, men då var det på riktigt. Med dagens situation i åtanke kan man skratta åt det och tycka att det var lite roande att det berörde så mycket.
1998 hade Microsoft köpt Hotmail och nördarna var ursinninga! Här är ett upprop till bojkott från detta år. Ett litet memento över en svunnen tid.

I know that alot of you guys out there got hotmail accounts, please support the antims movement and termineta your account, do this by sending in the provided email (at the bottom of this file) to: ”verify_close@hotmail.com” and put: ”shutdown_me” in the subject field.
The net is full of other free email providers, so it is completely painless to terminate a hotmail account.
Many people send in letters to magazines telling how bad they think Windows and other MS applications are. There are numerous antims sites on the WWW, but do they really make any difference? Does Microsoft care about this?
The answer is NO! But now we all have a chance to change this for ever. If a large amount of people terminates their hotmail accounts telling them that they have left because of Microsoft, then other companies would think twice before selling themselves to Microsoft.
Terminating your hotmail account is powerfull statement against Microsoft domination !!!
